Tornado Strikes Dakota Town Causing Heavy Damage
A tornado ripped through MARTIN South Dakota Monday night, tearing the roof off the community hospital and demolishing 40 buildings. Damage is estimated at about half a million dollars. Officers reported few injuries but the town faced collapsed structures and debris, with streets strewn by cement blocks.

Civil War Songs At Last Vet's Funeral in Duluth
Albert Woolson the last Union Army veteran was laid to rest in Duluth after a four mile funeral procession led by a drum and fife corps and more than 200 marching veterans. The Sons of Union Veterans conducted graveside rites with songs including Onward Christian Soldiers and Battle Hymn of the Republic. A 17 year old girl hit a pump at Martin Service Station causing $100 damage. Helen B Patterson of Deering Missouri was uninjured. Another crash occurred at 4:55 p m involving Kenneth Farris and Jarrell L Graham in the 200 block of South Tenth Street.
