Blood donor group meeting draws fifty in Mt Vernon area

Fifty representatives from Mt Vernon and Jefferson County attended a blood donor recruitment committee meeting at the Jim Breeze home led by JJ L Buford and Harry Wolters. The session outlined the blood program and closed with home made ice cream. recruitment continues for the next Bloodmobile at the Moose Lodge on Friday August 17 from noon to six.

Former Mt. Vernon teacher dies at 74 in Colorado

The Rev. J. F. McAnally of Burlington Iowa and a former Mt. Vernon resident died at age 74 on Wednesday in Gunnison Colorado. He taught at Mt. Vernon High School about 45 years ago. two sisters were former Mt. Vernon residents. Surviving are his wife a son Keith of Hoopeston Illinois and a sister Mrs B B Fager of Burlington formerly of Mt Vernon.

Rose Irvin Dalby of Bonnie died at 82 in Whittington at 4 30 yesterday. Born July 1 1869 in Jefferson county to John A Irvin and Elizabeth McClure Irvin she belonged to the Methodist church. Survived by one step daughter Chita D Kirby of Sacramento Calif three nephews one grand niece and two great grand nieces. Funeral 2 pm tomorrow at Myers Chapel burial in South Hickory Hill cemetery body lies in state at Myers Chapel after 2 pm today for visitation.
