Donald Peterson Bonnie, 61, of Route 1 Bonnie, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born December 2, 1914 in Wk Praine Township, married Opal Hachie, worked over 20 years at Freeman Coal No 6, and retired due to ill health. He belonged to Prairie Christian Church, Lesser Masonic Lodge 918 AF and AM, United Mine Workers Local, and Democratic Precinct Committee for Elk Prairie. Sylvanus Bud Brookman 72 of Benicia California died July 24 after a long illness. A native of Mt Vernon he lived in Solano County 35 years and served 30 years as a U S Government liaison officer in the Defense Department. He retired in 1969 after leading combat equipment work with the 8th Army in Lexington Kentucky. Two Injury Suits Settled Out Of Court Here Friday

In Mt Vernon circuit court two lawsuits were dismissed after settlements reached out of court. One suit, filed Oct 21 1974, claimed Donna Keene Knight suffered injuries from a spike on a ground protruding telephone pole and sought 7500 for medical costs against Bell Telephone Company City of Mt Vernon and Roach. The other suit, Helen F Boster vs Beverly Barker, alleged a May 17 1974 parking lot collision at Bolerjack Market with claimed damages of 50000.

Area Motorcycle Accidents Injure 3

Three people were injured in three weekend motorcycle accidents, two in Jefferson County and one near Ewing. Danny Flanagan, 18, of Route 6, remained in good condition at Good Samaritan Hospital after his bike left the Field township road pavement at 10:28 a.m. Sunday. Stan Bruce, 21, and Michael D. Fico, 21, both of Waltonville, were involved in a collision on the Waltonville Du Bois Road at 4:15 p.m. Sunday. Bruce suffered scalp lacerations and was released. Anita King, 14, of Lesser, was treated and released at Good Samaritan after being struck by Kevin J. Allsopp, 14, of Whittington, while the motorcyclist attempted to stop on the South Street shoulder in Ewing at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mt. Vernon City Council meets tonight with ordinances on motel sewer taps set at 3 to 1, a fee schedule for haulers to the city landfill, and two zoning petitions. Two Drivers Ticketed In Weekend Mishaps

Police reported three major auto accidents Saturday with two drivers cited for offenses. Nicholas Evanchik was charged with driving while intoxicated after his car struck a parked truck owned by Kenneth Campbell at 19th Street and Conger Avenue to avoid a child. Clara Kuhn received a failure to yield right of way citation after a collision at Broadway and Times Square Mall. Sarah McClelland sustained minor injuries in a Park Plaza Shopping Center crash. Police detain 17 year old for shoplifting at Times Square Mall

City officers picked up a 17-year-old boy at Mohr Value Store in Times Square Mall on Saturday at 5 12 pm accusing him of stealing motorcycle equipment and two eight track tapes. Investigators noted the vehicle involved had little damage. At 5 45 am firefighters watched as a police car was freed from an underground storage tank fill pipe after backing over it with a wrecker. no fire occurred.

Flood survivors endure trek as vehicles wash away

A family recounts hours of danger during a mountain flash flood. They sheltered with shirts over faces, moved sides of the slope to avoid rising water, and watched an orange van and other vehicles crushed. A helicopter arrived to airlift survivors, including the Pistone family, to Loveland High School after several hours.
