A 16 year old Mt. Vernon area youth, Lewis Samuel Savage, Route 2, has admitted taking part in thefts of copper and auto parts from Mt. Vernon Waste Material Co. He was released to relatives and named an accomplice. Thefts included 20 used radiators and about 900 pounds of copper from a shed near the office. Victims reported the loss last Saturday morning.

Two Women Remain Critical After Dix Crash
Two Marion women Edna Pauline Spiller 52 and Betty L Hill 39 were injured in a north Dix auto-truck collision that killed Clyde Spiller the husband of Edna. He died at the hospital three hours after the crash as the group was driving to sing at a state convention of Christian Churches. Clyde Spiller a trucker and longtime resident of Marion served as a deacon at the First Christian church.
