Freight Train Wreck Near Grant Park Causes Track Damage
In Grant Park Illinois on April 26 a Chicago and Eastern Illinois freight train derailed at Sollitt four miles north of town. Thirteen of the ninety cars overturned and spilled sand. No injuries were reported. A broken journal is blamed for the derailment which tore up about 150 feet of track and forced rerouting of C and E I trains. Normal service resumed the next day.

Georgiana Campbell Manville, 33, estranged eighth wife of playboy Tommy Manville, died when her car collided with another at a Westchester intersection near White Plains.
