In Hershel Knox vs Robert L Reininger the jury found no negligence by either side and each pays own costs for a December 15, 1950 crash at 22nd and Perkins. In Edward M Harrison vs Charles Ray McMahon the jury awarded Harrison and held McMahon liable for 2078.87 for a May 2, 1950 collision on state route 37 near Mt Vernon.

Mutineers Barter Lives Of 11 Guards
Rebelling prisoners at Rahway state prison took over a dormitory wing and hostage eight guards during a five day mutiny. The inmates demanded a probe of the state parole board and vowed no reprisals while food and water were cut off. Darwin Millage, 35, of Detroit, was killed during the unrest as guards and firefighters fought fires set by rioters in multiple buildings.

Two thefts were reported to Mt. Vernon police headquarters. A warehouse at Mt. Vernon Iron Co. 510 South Sixth Street was broken into last night and a burning torch valued at 100 dollars was stolen. Thieves removed sheet metal from the building to gain entry. Courtney Moving and Storage Co. reported at 5:20 p.m. yesterday that two batteries were stolen from trucks parked at the rear of the plant.

Two Driving Cases In County Court
Traffic charges were filed against Charles R. Williams and Alva W. Martin before County Judge Morton F. Dorothy. Williams, 52, faced driving while intoxicated and transporting liquor with the seal broken. Martin, 32, was charged with driving while intoxicated. State Patrolman Lee R. Lyons made the arrests.
