Burglaries Struck Doris Nance Twice In One Night
Doris Nance at 1100 S 26th St reported two burglaries in one night. At 2 12 am police found a burglar fleeing the D K tavern at 415 Main St after a break in through a front door window and loss of cash from a drawer. A storm window at her home was reported broken at 3 36 am but entry was not gained. Officer Jon Bumpus investigated.

Carmi Man Dies In 4 Car Crash
Carmi resident Ronald E. Knight, 20, died when his car skidded out of control and struck three other vehicles on U S 460 northeast of Carmi. Four others were injured, three seriously, including Darlene Townsend and Angie Fair of Carmi and Terry D Talley. James N. Martin of Crossville and David A Fair of Longview Texas were involved in the crash.

Former governor Otto Kerner and partner Isaac Isaacs were sentenced to three years in prison on eleven counts for bribery mail fraud and income tax evasion connected to race track stock while Kerner was in office.
