Mrs Winnie Bean Moore 65 of RFD 1 Belle Rive died last night at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral Thursday at 1 pm Myers Chapel burial West Salem. calling after 10 am Wednesday. Survived by husband Joe G Moore Sr a daughter a son a brother and a granddaughter.
The Rev Clyde Brown of Centralia pastor of the Sewer Baptist church at Marlow died at St Marys Hospital at 7 00 last night at age. The body will lie in state at the Galbreath Funeral Home in Centralia, with friends to call after 6 00 today. Funeral services Wednesday at 2 30 p m at the funeral home conducted by Revs Glen Means and Steve Shehorn. He leaves wife Florence a son Donald of Centralia and five grandchildren. A daughter Helen Greenhill died February 1954.
Stewart is elected by the Coil Association amid discussion of coal industry challenges. In a press conference Mr. McKay said there is no quick remedy as coal production fell from 600 million tons to 400 million tons last year due to competition from new fuels. He predicted a long recovery with some marginal mines closing, but emphasized coal will remain a major industry and adapt through free enterprise ingenuity.
In Saigon the Binh Xuyen private army shelled the national army HQ in a 50 minute fight. Eight nationalist soldiers and two Binh Xuyen commandos were wounded. The clash followed a Monday breach in the two week truce between the army and the Binh Xuyen society allied with Ngo Dinh Diem.

Jersey City New Jersey Bernarr MacFadden once worth about 30 million dollars spent the night in Hudson County Jail for failure to post a 20000 dollar bond. The 86 year old rugged living advocate was arrested Monday over back alimony to his third wife Jonnie Lee MacFadden 49 of New York who obtained a ne exeat barring him from leaving the state. MacFadden says he is broke and faces New York contempt for 600 dollars monthly alimony and 5000 dollars in counsel fees.
A telegram from 47 signers argues Matsu and Quemoy are inseparable from the Communist mainland and not essential for Formosa defense. The Eisenhower administration has avoided pledging aid to defend the offshore islands, saying they would be defended if an assault signals a broader Formosa attack.
