Army Develops New Nerve Gases and Defense Tactics
Maj. Gen. Anthony C. McAuliffe told the 117th American Chemical Society meeting in Detroit that the Army spends over 12 million dollars annually on research in biological radiological and chemical warfare. He noted work on new nerve gases and stressed detection decontamination and protection methods for personnel and animals. He suggested the United States would use gas or related weapons only in retaliation and credited past preparations with deterring enemy use.
