Arthur Nelson Winemiller age 7 of Whittington died Monday in Fawn Hospital Corpus Christi Texas after wintering there for years Funeral services set for 2 00 p m Saturday at Johnston Funeral Home Whittington burial Shiloh Cemetery local service will view body after 5 00 p m Thursday He was born January 27 1896 in Whittington son of William and Mary Winemiller survived by brothers L H and Ben Winemiller and sister Mrs Delia McAfoos all of Whittington Winemiller was a World War I veteran and a member of Benton American Legion Post 280 which will conduct military graveside rites.

A television tower toppled and a TV set burned in Mt. Vernon last night and this morning with smoke damage to a home on 213 North Seventh Street. Early today firemen responded to 433 South 22nd Street where the tower fell and struck an electric line.
Nashville Tennessee Sergeant Alvin C York the famed World War I hero remains in critical condition at the hospital after a recent turn for the better and subsequent decline. The 75 year old Medal of Honor recipient was hospitalized last Saturday and continues under careful care.

Motorcycle damage about 50 dollars car about 75 dollars Wilbanks charged with failure to yield right of way. Tuesday afternoon a crash at Seventh and Jordan involved Earl E Stephenson 124 Castleton and William D Thompson 9 Lincoln Drive. Stephenson charged with faulty brakes.
March data from Southern Illinois University climatology laboratory shows Mt Vernon had 6.98 inches of rain and 3.15 inches of snow for the 31 days, above long term averages. Lt Virgil L Harvell Sr, 45, appointed chief of detectives in Springfield Police Department. He becomes the first Black supervisor in the Springfield force. Mayor Nelson Howarth announced the Tuesday decision.

A $20,000 accident injury suit by Elma Jean Gentry and William E. Gentry against Julian W. Smith was settled out of court. Circuit Judge Caswell J. Crebs entered the dismissal order yesterday. The July 13, 1961 collision at Tenth and Perkins prompted the suit with Elma Gentry seeking $20,000 and William Gentry seeking $100 for car damage.
A Negro group in Colp Illinois will launch a survey Thursday to gather ideas for financial advancement of the Negro community. Sponsored by the Chicago Development Association of Colp, the effort runs through April 28 with help from Southern Illinois University.
