In Superior court in New Haven a $550000 damage suit involves Anchor Rubber Company as plaintiff and LaResista Corset Company as defendant. James R Van Buren demonstrates an inflatable brassiere with a self closing valve observed by spectators as the case unfolds. The suit alleges Anchor supplied materials for the device and LaResista declined it yet later obtained a patent and launched an aggressive advertising campaign.

Laura Lou Newby 88 died today at 12 45 am at 1008 Welkins born May 15 1863 in Franklin county daughter of David S Gray and Mary Littleton wife of O M Newby who died 1939. She was member of First Baptist church. Funeral Saturday 1 30 pm Rev Cavaker at Myers Chapel burial Old Union cemetery. Survived by sister Drucilla Hodge of Danville and brother Robert Gray of Mt Vernon. Body at Myers Chapel after 1 pm Friday for viewing.
TRENTON N J April 17 Officials at Trenton state prison watched for signs of a break in a revolt by 68 convicts barricaded in the prison printing shop Four employees have been held as hostages since 10 am Tuesday when the revolt began Reports indicate the hostages two with heart trouble have not been harmed and have even been fed and allowed medicine The rioters have had no food water or electricity since taking the two story stone shop near the prison wall
The crest of the Missouri River flood arrives tonight affecting second floor dwellings. The Milk River flood in Montana has caused an estimated 2,941,000 in damage. The Missouri flood has displaced about 6,000 people from Rule, Nebraska to Kansas City and breached a levee near Tarkio, Missouri inundating 23,000 acres of farmland. Monitored levels show the Minnesota River remains above flood stage at Mankato and Minneapolis where it meets the Mississippi.
Mt Vernon residents are informed that the Odd Fellows have no relation to a reported sale of name plates and street numbers bearing the I O O F insignia. William Shehorn recording secretary of Marion Lodge No 31 stated no authorization for solicitation in the name of the order has been given.

A grand jury returned nine indictments. John Brannock alias John Starkey faces two larceny counts, Douglas Wray and Thomas Wray face armed robbery. Rosa Lee Tolbert, Jean Hayes, and Cortez Adams are indicted for grand larceny and theft. James Cameron of Springfield is charged with burglary and larceny and pleaded guilty yesterday, placed on probation. Another unnamed individual faces an indictment, not yet apprehended.
The city fire department was paged to 13th and Herbert streets at 12 20 pm yesterday to control a grass fire. A second run occurred at 5 55 am today to 3517 South 24th Street for an overheated stove. No damage was reported.
A regional gathering of the Illinois State Bar Association will be hosted at Hotel Emmerson Friday. Jefferson County Bar Association President Jay K B Stringer announced the event with registration starting at 8 30 a m. A full program features speakers on topics of general interest to bar members.
