School Janitors Accept Terms in Granite City
Granite City Illinois AP reports striking custodians and cafeteria workers and the Board of Education tentatively agreed on a three year contract. The 5300 teachers supported the picket lines as classes were curtailed for five days before a two week truce. The agreement provides wage increases of 19 cents an hour first year retroactive to July 1, five cents July 1, and 19 cents July 1 1965. Union reps expect the 18 members to approve. A ratification meeting was not set.
