Lina Smith of Belle Rive died at 5 05 pm Tuesday in Jefferson Memorial Hospital at age 96. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 00 pm at Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev Rose Partridge and Rev John Lee Sr officiating. Burial in Smith Cemetery. Body in state at Myers Chapel after 4 00 pm Thursday and from noon Friday at church. Born Sept 6 1873 in Saline Ky, daughter of William and Anna Mace. Married Judson A Smith Oct 31 1894. he died May 31 1949. Survived by sons H Ivan Smith of Betle Rive and Clyde D Smith of Salem, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Jury Rules For Defendant In Mt Vernon Accident Case
A 12 member jury in circuit court ruled for defendant Barbara Green in the suit American Oil Company and Frank Weatherford versus Barbara Green and Clarence Neal. The case stemmed from a November 21 1962 collision between an oil tank truck and a car on state route 148 about five miles southwest of Mt Vernon. Plaintiff sought 3200.40 for truck damages. After plaintiff’s case Associate Judge Alvin Lacy Williams dismissed Neal as a defendant. The jury deliberated just over an hour and found for Green.
