Competitive examinations will be held tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in the city council room second floor city hall for the Mt. Vernon sewer department superintendent post. City Manager Chester Lewis will supervise. The position becomes vacant after Bob Webb resigned April 1 to take a plant superintendent job at Mt Vernon high school.

New Home For $900 Moving Bill
Murphysboro Illinois AP reported Jesse Joyner and seven children will move into a four room house moved from Southern Illinois University Carbondale to replace their crumbling home in a rundown Murphysboro area. Sallee Kri, SIU faculty member’s wife, raised 900 dollars to cover moving costs and organized workers to demolish the old home, repair the foundation, and place the new house on the site. The house had been slated for demolition by SIU and was written off by State property control.
