Graveside rites for infant Patricia Pearl Shelsky were to be held at 1:00 p.m. today at Fellows Cemetery in MeLeansboro. She died at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born October 24, 1972, daughter of Aram and Mamie Shelsky of Route 1, Broughton. Grandparents listed include Karl and Martha Morris of Broughton and Mrs. Pearl Shelsky of St. Louis.

Powell Lies In State At Harlem Church
Former parishioners and admirers view Adam Clayton Powell Jr. in state at Abrasinian Baptist Church in Harlem after his body arrived at Kennedy Airport from Miami. The 63 year old Harlem congressman died last Tuesday after surgery complications. About 200 mourners watched as the coffin draped with the Black Liberation flag was taken to the church where Powell served as pastor for nearly 40 years. Funeral services are planned for Sunday followed by cremation and scattering of ashes over South Bimini Island. All city flags are at half staff and Harlem merchants were urged to close from 10 a.m. to noon in Powell memory.
