Former Wayne county resident funeral 200 pm Thursday Olive Branch church burial in adjoining cemetery body lying in state at Gholson Funeral Home and at church 1 pm to time of service. Born August 12 1886 in Wayne county daughter of Lafayette and Nancy McCoy. Survived by three sons Archie George Lewis and Berlon Lewis. brother Willard McCoy. three sisters Martha Booher Gertrude Reed and Viola Shelton. four grandchildren ten great grandchildren. Member of Washington Park Baptist church and East St Louis Order of Eastern Star.

Ottis Niccum 66 died Monday in Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Funeral services set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Richardson Chapel Wayne City with Rev H H Mayberry officiating. Burial in Thomason Cemetery. Survives include wife Elsie Miller, son Eldon Niccum, daughters Marilyn Green and Dorothy Legg, brothers A D Niccum Walter Niccum Paul Niccum Tony Niccum, sister Hester Bell, and six grandchildren. He was born March 18 1898 in Cumberland County and was a Pin Oak Baptist Church member.

Tim Coleman aged 17, of Percy, died at a Chester hospital after his car was struck by a Gulf Mobile & Ohio train at a Percy crossing. The incident caused a brief delay to the train en route to East St. Louis.

Jet Carrying 145 Lands in Mud in Queens

A Pan American jet carrying 145 passengers landed in mud at Idlewild after missing the runway. Forty eight people were hurt as crew evacuated passengers via hatches.
