Survivors include son J C Livingston daughter Harriet Perry sister Grace Ritz and a grandson and three great grandsons.

Charles Edward Smith 48 of 1103 N 2tth street Mt. Vernon died at 2 45 pm yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a machinist and a World War II veteran. Services will be at 2 pm Monday at Richardson Chapel Wayne City with Rev. Russ Hart and Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery. He was born Jan 7 1925 in Buncombe son of Arthur and Lela (Bayard) Smith. He was married to Eileen Masters. He is survived by his father Arthur Smith East Moline his mother and stepfather Mr and Mrs Herman Dulaney Mt. Vernon and three half brothers Bill Dulaney Alton Halsey Dulaney Forest City Cal and Jim Dulaney Columbus Ohio.

Snyder Wins U of I Loyalty Award at Harrisburg Dinner
Lyle Snyder of Mt. Vernon received the University of Illinois Alumni Association Loyalty Award at a Harrisburg dinner before a concert by the university Symphonic Band. Train Derails At Jacksonville In Norfolk and Western Crash
A Norfolk and Western freight train with 73 cars derailed after colliding with a stalled flatbed truck four miles east of Jacksonville. Damage was estimated at 1 million dollars with no injuries. Fire crews fought a blaze from ruptured fuel tanks as the locomotive and cars blocked tracks.
