A historic Rocky Mountain blizzard blanketed Wyoming and Montana with drifts up to 16 feet. Sheridan reported 36 inches of snow with 24 inches in 24 hours, closing highways and canceling air and bus service. Rescue crews worked to reach stranded motorists while others sheltered in homes or ranches. 17 were briefly listed missing but later located. In total 583 motorists were rescued.
Cars bogged down in 15 foot drifts were nicked by a school bus and taken into Lusk Wyoming Monday night. The motorists stranded since Sunday afternoon were reported in good condition. The storm center lay in northeastern Wyoming and southern Montana, fanning wide areas. Winds up to 70 mph whipped the snow, with more strong winds expected today. The Weather Bureau said snowfall was tapering off and would end in a matter of hours.

Mothers of the Bethel grade school district will attend a special meeting at the school at 7 30 tonight to hear an explanation of the proposed 45000 bond issue to finalize additions to the school. Residents will vote on April 16. Bond house representatives will attend tonight to help explain the proposal and improvements in school facilities. A spokesman said mothers will volunteer to explain the proposal to voters district wide.
