Survived by one brother James Davis of McLeansboro. Born January 12 1886 in Hamilton County to John and Artimissa Huffstutler Davis. Married July 13 1910 to Aliie Gilman.

Vandalia Illinois inmates staged a small hunger strike Sunday at Vandalia State Penal Farm led by a "small group of militants" involving about 100 of 601 inmates. About six or seven inmates will be transferred to other institutions as the cause is investigated. Operations remained normal and most participating inmates ate at least one meal, some missed Easter dinner.

A $100 reward was offered today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of thieves who took an American flag from the flagpole at Second and Main streets during Easter weekend. Bob Poisall, chamber of commerce manager, said the reward is offered by the Chamber. Four Burglaries Over Weekend In Mt Vernon
Mt Vernon police investigated four burglaries over the weekend in the King City. A Friday night break in at Mt Vernon Auto Parts on Benton Road yielded $10 in change and prompted a car theft report later. The car was found in Myers Chapel lot near 10th and Harrison Streets. A Sunday morning entry at Don Torregrosso Wholesale Fruit on 701 S 10th Street found no missing items. A separate night break on the C&EI railroad siding near Fisher’s Lane saw a master key unlock a bunk car and steal an 8 foot ladder, water pump, and five gallon can. A break at Goodyear Service Store on 1212 Broadway produced a broken window and door removal, with inventory pending to determine losses.

A hit-and-run driver struck Rose Perry a 71 year old resident at 205 17th Street near 24th Street and Broadway at 9 05 a m on Sunday.
