John Luther Harlan aged 81 of 309 South 21st Street was found dead at his residence at 10 25 am Tuesday by city police. Born May 8 1886 he was a retired employee of Joliet Wallpaper Mills. Body sent to Pulley Funeral Home with funeral arrangements incomplete.
Milwaukee AP describes Eugene J. McCarthy adopting Adlai Stevenson style with wit and humor to energize his presidential bid. He contrasts calm issue focus with primaries and jokes about fences around the White House and Kennedy committees while citing classical authors in speeches.
In a South Side department store two men dressed as women started a fire Tuesday. Joseph Frank, president of Frank's Department Store, and another official extinguished it before firefighters arrived. Damage was minor. A saleswoman said two customers showed interest in dresses, one tried on two garments, then left. the clerk found the fire in the dressing room and noted the customers were men in wigs and dark clothes.
Charles S. Robb, 28, President Johnsons son in law and Marine infantry captain, began his Vietnam tour in Da Nang. He declined to say where he wanted assignment but said he was happy to be there as Marine rifle company commands in the field are noted.
A hospital notes list multiple patients with addresses in Cradlewood and nearby towns. A nine story Bay Hotel has been purchased to house a graduate school of theology for Catholic priesthood candidates. The Catholic Theological Union, formed by three orders, will run the school near the University of Chicago and plans a September opening. About 100 students from three separate seminaries will enroll this year, with locations previously at Teutopolis Illinois Lake Bluff Wisconsin and St Meinrad Indiana.

Livestock at National Stockyards Illinois shows Thursday estimates with hogs about 7,500 head and cattle around 800 head. Celia Mae Burgin filed suit for divorce from Aubrey Burgin in circuit court yesterday charging mental cruelty. She asks for a writ of injunction to restrain molestation and for equitable division of property and alimony. The couple married April 15, 1942 and separated February 4, 1968.
