A lightning strike at about 6 p.m. destroyed Mrs. Mary Petersen's mobile home near Opdyke, with no injuries. Apartments On 42nd St. issue permits for eight more buildings
Raymond J. Lubbs, president of Merc Corporation and Aktional, faces building permit action Friday for eight apartment buildings costing 618,000 in the Mt. Vernon Gardens project on North 42nd Street at Broadway. The phase I complex will total 151 units with 532 apartments planned. The three story structures are part of the ongoing development led by Merc’s George Gordon. Rain delayed winter work while footings proceed on five other buildings begun last October.
