Martha Hoaglin Birthday Party Held by Troop Four

Mrs. Wilfred Hoaglin entertained Girl Scout Troop Four at the Hoaglin cabin Tuesday night for Martha Hoaglin's birthday. About twenty attended. After pre-dinner supper, the party featured games and songs.

Missionary Society Visits Hillsboro for China Children Program

The Eowing wessionary society of the First Baptist church traveled to Hillsboro Tuesday evening for a covered dish supper at Mrs. Eldridge Hoaglin’s home. Mrs. Marjorie Cochran led the program on missions with a study titled The Children of China, followed by an evening of fellowship and group singing.

A cooperative family dinner at St. Alphonsus Catholic church hall drew 66 attendees. Residents and relatives including Rev Welsh, Mro, Hurley and many McCormicks gathered for a noon gathering with after-dinner visiting and thanks.

Hillsboro Officers Probe Magazine Sellers Car

Sheriff Manning Cline and Deputy Frank Farr explored a Hillsboro edge location after a 5 pm call about a parked 1945 California plate car. They found the car gone ten minutes earlier and learned two men and two women had been selling magazines from it with no further evidence of wages.

Sarah Grinstead aged 17 escaped from the state hospital on Monday morning and was picked up by Burlington police Tuesday evening. She has been returned to the hospital.

Woodburn Man Drowns After Falling Into Well

Osceola district reports 16 year old Lewis Osceola, i Waugh, fell into a 20 foot well on adjoining property while working Monday. Drowning listed as the cause. Family began searching at supper time. body recovered by J. B. Tomlinson. The wrecked well was found near the home.
