Salem Mrs E W Eliot returns from Kansas City after death of her sister Mrs T J Wolfe killed by a gasoline explosion while attempting to start their car Friday July 18. Husband aiding as flames spread, neighbor helped extinguish. Wolfe died Saturday from shock rather than burns.
Fire in Dubuque caused $30,000 damage to the Farber Iona Frail Company building. Fire chief Thomas Hickson said the blaze started yesterday when a spark ignited dust at the blower system on the second floor.
Miss Arlene Flowers of Lamont married Robert Sampson of Mt. Pleasant in a Graceland College Chapel ceremony on Sunday July 27. The double ring wedding was read by Reverend Robert Furnham and featured organ music by Mrs. Findley Herring and sisters Dorothy Flowers and Gladys Lampson. The bride wore white chiffon with a fingertip veil and carried white king asters. matron of honor was twin sister LeRoy Runkle, and groom's attendants included James J. Sampson and Dick Flowers. A lawn reception followed, with traveling dress of white butcher linen. The couple will reside on a farm south of Mt. Pleasant after a wedding trip. Attending guests included families from Lamont and Mt. Pleasant.
