Winifred Phelps hosted B P club for her birth day. Prof John Chittum and wife welcomed a son. Benny Leedham died on South Adams Street. Joe Reeshivy of Wayland married Anna Bunt of this city. Ina Ewart attended a birthday party.

Sheriff Everett reports investigation into injuries of John Anderson a 20 year old Fairfield college student found in a ravine east of Ottumwa with both feet frozen after fleeing a nearby night club following a gunshot report. he was unconscious and not shot.
Mr and Mrs Harry Townsend hosted the Simkin family for a Sunday dinner honoring Gary Van Amerongen and celebrating Mrs Van Amerongen’s birthday. Attendees included Mr and Mel, Guy Slukin, Mr and Mrs Edward Simkin, Mr and Mrs Gar Register, Doris and Donna Jean, Mr and Meg Giy Van Amerongen, and Mr and Mrs Mary Townsend and Martha.

They also spread about 1500 tons of phosphate on hay land pastures and clover, about 10000 tons more than 1944, with experts urging higher phased mineral applications for soil health and long term productivity. County chair Max B Kaufman notes soil minerals like phosphorus nitrogen potassium and calcium are essential for continued life and farm prosperity. Farmers plan 1947 soil-building practices including limestone fertilizer contouring mixed cropping green manure crops and reseeding.
Mr and Mrs L E French celebrated their fifty second wedding anniversary with a supper and party at park, hosted by relatives. The eighty year old guest list included Mrs Orel French, Johnny, Jeimmie, Martha, Linnie Tyon and Howard French, who received a trotter mower and other gifts.
Hillsboro notes report the Christian church Ladies Aid will meet Thursday afternoon February 13 at the homes of Mrs Wayne Tross with Mrs Jack Johnson and Mrs Gertle Thornton assisting. Several local residents, including Mr and Mrs Walter Eyre of Burlington, visit to Hillsboro.
The Henry County Ministerial Association postponed its February meeting to Monday at the Methodist church. Hosts Rev M C Campbell and wife served a cooperative dinner. Dr F W Easttrood opened the program and Laura B Galer led the devotional. Rev Owen W Wilson spoke on Passion Work in Jerusalem detailing Holy Week events in Jerusalem.
