M Marlow from Lexington and many locals are noted visiting family and attending events. Several entries record school plays, church services, travel plans, and health updates amid a broad roster of residents from Danville to Mt Vernon and Lexington with the ongoing community life highlighted by deaths and a band trip postponed due to road conditions.
In Rockcastle one church stood about a third mile east of Brodhead at Boone's Fork ford known as Boone's Fork Church. The two story frame building housed church services and Masonic lodge on the upper floor. In the late 1870s both groups relocated to a new Brodhead building, the Masons moving to the second story.
The passage traces Livingston’s early buildings and hospitality figures. It notes the first tavern or hotel named the Gresham on the Laurel side, then the Goodin house after the railway reached town in 1870, followed by the Sambrook, the Mullins, and Hight Gableys. It mentions a Livingston hotel linked to the town’s namesake or Prof A G Lovell, who hailed from Bedford Indiana.

Lexington May 18 Two large gifts bolster Transylvania College 10000 for athletic field equipment and stadium from Ben Allen Thomas and W J Thomas of Shelby County and 15000 from an unnamed donor backing the Disciples World Movement Campaign. Thomas was a college athlete and later helped fund projects with his uncle. The athletic field may be named Thomas Field on North Broadway. The campaign proceeds in Kentucky face delays as several churches finish drives later this week and next. Local church reports note substantial raises though some quotas remain unfinished.
J A Oliver visited town over Sunday and several locals made short trips for visits. Mrs C L Hughes left for Louisville for a short stay. R B Baker filled services at the Christian church. Mrs Ellen Parker will move to Carnegie Penn. Died May 2 Mrs Robert Thomas formerly Miss Sarah S Whitaker widow of Thomas Thomas and grandmother of R G Moore. husband and two children survive. burial at Willis Russell Cemetery. Mrs C L Black and children visit Mr Black's father near Mr Olive. H C Wolf, the tie man, seen between trains. Died last Monday George Tankersly longtime Pleasant Run church member and Livingston Council 167 J R T0 U A M. buried in Bates Cemetery with Junior honors. two brothers and one sister attend.

Mrs Sallie Craig of Villailla with Mrs James McCall who is ill from a long fractured wrist. Dr Owens attending. Mrs Dolly Sowards injured knee cap from a fall. M F Craig of Villailla on jury stays with sister Mrs James McCall. Mrs Grace Wilmott and Betson Hensley in Mt Vernon for dental work. Mrs Joan Sayers of Spiro visits aunt Mrs James McCall. Mr and Mrs Sherman Owens occupy Hamlin property. Mr and Mrs L T McCall of Stanford spend Sunday at home.
