Million Dollar Plant at Pine Hill Underway in Kentucky

The Kentucky Portland Cement and Coal Co begins work on a vast Pine Hill project covering about 2000 acres with limestone deposits over 600 acres thick and rich clay for cement making. The plan aims to produce 700000 barrels of Portland cement annually using electric power and fireproof steel buildings. It expects to employ 600 to 760 workers and cost about one million dollars with coal and limestone transported by gravity from adjacent mines. The project links to the Louisville & Nashville system and regional development in Mt Vernon and Rockcastle County.
