Mt Vernon Fair Exhibits Strong Show Across Departments
The 1917 Mt Vernon Fair drew strong crowds despite war scare and low attendance for exam days. Premiums honored many growers and crafters including Gus Staverson, Cecil Weiderhold, Sherman Cress, Mrs Pearl Daily, and Mrs Sam Fields across crops fruit and preserves with first and second places listed for many entries in crops, vegetables, baked goods, hand made articles, poultry, sheep and livestock.
