County road overseers are notified to warn and work their road sections in August. They should remove road bed material from creeks and place it on grades to prepare for winter and ensure legal warning is served in person.
A stream of short notices covers property moves, illnesses, visitors, and travel. References include ROBERT PIKE on the Cottongim property, editor’s Ford, Mt. Vernon residents W. H. Kruger Tip Langford, Judge G. M. Ballard, and Miss Bonnie Niceley as well as routine travels to London Berea Corbin and Chicago. The Mt Vernon Fair is announced for August 9 10 11 and hospitalities extend to Brodhead comments on hospitality and an upcoming Mt Vernon trip for an auto ride.
In strong turnout at Clear Creek area, about thirty teams labored on the Scaffold Cane pike at the Madison County line with around a hundred men and four hundred dinners served. Leaders including Jake Herndon Judge Baxter Joe Boggs and Judge Ballard urged completion of the Dixie Highway gap, promising big long term benefits despite costs. Sunday School at Clear Creek draws large attendance and the community looks toward Mt Vernon Fair.
