John Collier died at his mother’s Pearl Street residence on Thursday at 4 pm after a lingering illness with consumption. A large crowd attended the Demo rest medal contest at the Presbyterian Church last night. an excellent program and strong elocution. The medal was won by Miss Smith.
The great ice gorge moved past last night around 11. It lasted over an hour with a roaring rush. The tow head broke the ice, and the Henderson wharf boat went through the channel. Several hundred people gathered at the wharf to witness the spectacle.
