J Malcolm Forbes owned by James R Magowan of this county sired seven yearlings to standard records at a Lexington meeting. The stallion, world champion sire of yearlings and light harness, rivals Peter The Great with twenty two in the list. James Henry Combs was tried in Jackson before Judge A M J Cochran on selling liquor in local option territory and on selling liquor without paying the stamp tax or obtaining a government license. He was fined 100 dollars and costs and sentenced to six months in jail. Local officers alleged Combs sold whiskey to Buford Runyon and that marked money was found upon his arrest.
