Farmers Eye Giant Wheat Pool at Columbus Meeting

More than 150 farmers from across the United States attend the National Board of Farm Organizations session in Columbus Ohio. They plan a nationwide wheat pool to control marketing and selling of grain through elevators, aiming to capture about 40 percent of U S wheat output and to expand elevator reach nationwide. Delegates urge congressional action to regulate packing houses and compel railroads to provide sufficient refrigerator cars to move perishable foods, warning current neglect centralizes distribution and harms farmers. The body reports member organizations total 2 000 000 and current coop business around 2 000 000 000 dollars annually. A separate remark notes consumer tactics against agents, warning of persistent pressure to buy unnecessary items.
