Butterfat production runs heavy amid fine pastures
Review notes butterfat output is high and butter demand is strong but not enough to absorb two to three months of production. Surplus may be stored for later use. Eggs show decreased quality in large markets but ample storage stocks push prices downward. Warm weather boosts northern demand while southern markets lag. Daily gathering and cooling help producers fetch top prices. Live hens movement is normal and broiler arrivals in the South rise, likely lowering prices.

Wages Cut for 400000 Rail Workers Amid Rerates
The railroad wage cut affects maintenance of way workers with rates dropping from 28 to 40 cents an hour to between 2 and 35 cents. This marks the second reduction in a year after a July 1921 ruling shaved 400 million dollars from payrolls. If other worker classes are cut similarly, the 1920 railroad wage raise could be wiped out. Rail executives expect wage restraint to spur development and 200000 new jobs. Board said cuts align with lower living costs. Hearings were held in Chicago from March 6 to April 29.
