Mt Sterling Police Ordered to Enforce Strict Speed Limits
Mt Sterling Kentucky mayor instructs police to enforce speed limits of 8 mph at intersections and 15 mph elsewhere. Officers must warn offenders on first offense and arrest on second, keeping notes in a memorandum book and verifying speeds by timing distances from Main Street intersections. The notice also directs enforcement of quieting noises from cutoffs and requires warrants after shows at Main and Maysville intersection to curb speeding.

Red Cross Mass Meeting to Boost County Drive
A large Red Cross mass meeting is planned for Sunday at 2 30 at the Table Theatre to discuss the May 20 drive and raise 10000 for Montgomery County. Hon John R Allen of Lexington will speak along with local leaders. a moving picture shows Red Cross work in hospitals and trenches. Committees have been appointed countywide and headquarters are in the Reid Rogers building Court Street with Rev T B ill secretary in charge.

Call for Enlisted Men Expands to 72 White and 41 Negroes
The next call will recruit 30 to 40 men from the county for Camp Taylor on May 25 as Kentucky’s quota nears 6,311. Officials outline a sweeping World War II era plan including a 15 billion regular army fund, 2.5 billion for artillery and fortifications, a 3 million man army, 2 million sent to France, and power to call unlimited troops with expanded cantonments.
