Doris May Packs Strenuous Career Into 17 Years
Doris May, a rising screen star groomed by Thomas H. Ince, has built a 17 year career from child pianist to leading lady. She played piano publicly at four, studied elocution at seven, and toured as a violinist's accompanist at nine. By twelve she choreographed folk dances for a San Diego exposition, later joined Ince studio and proved adaptable. Now she headlines with Douglas McLean in Twenty-three and a Half Hours Leave at Table Theatre on March 11, a humorous Mary Roberts Rinehart story adapted for the screen.

A Critical View of Southern Aristocracy and Optimism
The author critiques performative Southern aristocracy and pessimism, warning that triumph requires recognizing losses. It notes the uncertain world and the cost of admission and exit, while observing how some people's talk leaves little impression. It ends with a reflection on exposure and outcomes.
