The Maysville street project in Mt. Sterling was accepted by the city council in a special session last Wednesday. Engineer Bosley and the Street Commission headed by Judge Lewis Apperson and Dr. J A Viansant approved the acceptance of the street from the Carey Reed Co. of Lexington, marking the first asphalt street in Mt. Sterling.

Obituary Notice for Holman Rice in Owingsville
Holman Rice of Owingsville was killed in a Tuesday morning automobile accident near Winchester. His cousin Sam Crooks of Bath county was injured, the pair had been to Clark county to view cattle and were en route to Lexington when the car struck a wire fence, overturned twice, and Rice died shortly after Dr. Johnson arrived. He left a wife Mary Wood Rice and a mother Belle M. Rice, with one sister Mrs. Scott Goodpaster. he was a prominent farmer and stockman in the region.

Mrs. John R. Triplett, 62, died at her home near Sharpsburg on Thursday morning June 11, 1914. Burial was in Sharpsburg cemetery after Methodist church services led by Rev. Greer. She leaves four children Walter Triplett Howard Triplett Mrs Perry Flora and Dr W B Triplett plus her husband. Family and neighbors attended the funeral from the city and area.

Policeman James Tipton detained a man who gave the name W. O. Patton of Morehead after he cashed a $50 check endorsed by Lewis Jacobs at Ex change Bank and bought clothing from The Walsh Co. The clerk alerted county Judge John W. Riley, who confirmed no such agreement, and Patton’s new clothes were recovered along with most of the cash. the endorser must cover the rest.
