The Mt Sterling Advocate, Montgomery County's leading newspaper, delivers twice weekly and offers a special bargain rate of 1.50 a year during the contest, with 50 cent savings per year and votes on renewals and back issues.
Growers signed contracts for the five year Co operative Burley Tobacco Marketing Association totaling more than 1.89 million pounds with 1,400 acres represented and about 235 signers by noon. The event drew about 2,000 participants including Indiana and Kentucky growers. Judge Robert W. Bingham addressed the crowd, praising forthcoming cooperative law. Further signing meetings are planned across Kentucky the week of June 13 with Aaron Sapiro expected to speak.
