Kentucky Democratic Primary Yields Light Turnout
In Kentucky the Democratic State Primary drew an extremely light vote with many counties failing to exceed 40 percent turnout. James B. McCreary won the governorship by about 30,000 votes over William Adams, with James Garnett ahead for Attorney General by an even larger margin. Local races produced safe majorities for Barksdale Hamlett, J. W. Newman, and Robt. L. Greene, while McDermitt and Bosworth narrowly won Lieutenant Governor and State Auditor respectively. Louisville gave Adams a sizable lead, and Montgomery County reports show McCreary carrying the governorship with 626 to 74 in a small turnout.
