Death of Hon. Samuel Turley Ends Dem Career Bid

The community mourns Samuel Turley who died suddenly in Frankfort from an acute anemia poisoning after visiting the Capitol with J Lawrence White. Born June 23 1855 in Montgomery County he was a popular Democrat long admired for generosity. A joint House Senate resolution laments his loss and notes his enterprising spirit. Portrait honors for General John S. Williams by Montgomery bar

The Montgomery County Bar Association adopted resolutions praising General John S. Williams and accepted a handsome oil portrait donated by Mrs. J. S. Williams. Born in 1820 in Kentucky, Williams rose to prominence in the Mexican War, led his own company at Cerro Gordo, and was allied by marriage to notable Clark and Montgomery families. Special Election Wednesday to Fill Late Samuel Turley Seat

A special election is called to fill the unexpired term of the late Samuel Turley, representative from the Menefee Montgomery District. The candidate will be chosen by a majority of the county committees of Menefee and Montgomery, with John A Judy favored as the sole candidate before the committees, reflecting party harmony and confidence in his ability.
