Forecast Tumble in Coal Prices Hits Markets
Department of Justice officials forecast a price break in coal amid renewed action against profiteers. Baltimore saw prices drop as federal agents gathered evidence of an alleged price boosting scheme. Hampton Roads and other Atlantic coast points faced similar investigations and expected reductions as transport conditions improved. Civil actions and inquiries will continue nationwide to curb inter trade price manipulation, with fears of pent up supply triggering lower costs for consumers.
