Mount Dora and Eustis players faced off in a weekly shuffleboard contest with 14 courts in use and 42 games played. Peterman and Powell led Reds and Blacks with top scores, while a tight playoff left Blacks 107 to 96 over Reds. Bird Club Opens Fall Season
The Lake County Bird club resumes meetings with an 8 pm Friday session at the Community building. President William L E Barnett announces a business start and season program suggestions. Merritt C Farrar of the Florida Audubon society will show bird films. Field trips last year included Rock Springs and Mount Dora to Haines Creek.

E C Allen, former president of Mount Dora Shuffleboard Club and longtime Genesse county supervisor chair, died in Flint Michigan on September 7 at age 75. He retired from farming on his birthplace farm and is survived by wife Grace, daughters Esther Derby and Blanche Balstad, sons Darwin Clare and Clarence Allen, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Last rites were held in Flint.

George H Sweetman, 82, died in Bedford Massachusetts last Friday. A former Winter resident of the Lakeside Inn he led the company bearing his name and served as past master of Thomas Talbot Lodge A F and A M as well as senior deacon of the Congregational church. He was a member of the Cambridge Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.
