The Lake County Fair for 1941 will run from Monday night March 10 through Saturday night March 15. President L L Polk of Eustis cited careful timing with other fairs and exhibit routes. The first bale of Sea Island cotton, grown by W. B. Gibson of Lady Lake, sold for over 33 cents a pound. Lake County growers gathered for the Leesburg gin’s opening, with Roberts’ three gin stands capable of 25 to 35 bales per day. Sea Island, prized for long, fine fibre, has returned as a premium crop in Florida, led by Lake and Marion counties this year.
