Barbecue Honors Willis McCall At Mount Dora Hall
A large turnout from Lake County attended a Saturday event at the American Legion hall in Mount Dora to honor suspended sheriff Willis McCall and support his defense fund. Attendees, many middle aged or older, enjoyed barbecue chicken beans and cole slaw while a campaign poster loomed on stage and McCall pledged he will be sheriff again. State Senator Welborn Daniel and local Democrats urged turnout for the Sept. 12 primary as McCall touted his acquittal and attacked the governor’s actions.

The council will study Croak’s proposal in committee to resolve if it falls under the building moratorium and whether seven duplexes count as apartments. City Building Inspector John Cain notes the distinction between seven two unit duplexes and a 14 unit apartment building is blurry.
