Whispering Pines Home Built In Tangerine Over 75 Years Ago
The 1885 86 construction of Whispering Pines in Tangerine by William Cathcart from Litchfield Minnesota, with local carpentry, created a sturdy two story attic house later named Pinecrest. It served as a guest house for winter visitors, later given to the Tangerine Church, then bought by E Bonynge who expanded land holdings. The Burgesses bought and remodeled it in 1948, hosting Whispering Pine Tea with antique glass displays and landscaped grounds. A 1927 i T S note records a Japanese entertainment at the hall with a large program and tea in a Japanese garden.
