Seat Belts Save Lives Warn of Road Safety
The Peninsula Motor Club states seat belts reduce injuries in traffic accidents by at least one third and can prevent being thrown from a car or against a windshield. It notes belts should be two inches wide, withstand 4000 pounds, and restrain a 200 pound rider at 30 mph for 1.5 feet. The use rose in 1961, likely saving lives, with over two million cars now belt equipped.
