Mount Dora hosts a community Halloween parade and singalong this Saturday. Children from elementary and middle school ages compete in a costume parade from 6:30 p.m. at city hall to the Chamber of Commerce. Prizes preview scariest, funniest and most original outfits. The Mount Dora High School Band performs, with an 8 p.m. singalong in the CofC Baggage Room. Refreshments served. Youth and Education Committee sponsors the event. Lake County Farm Bureau President John Whitaker was among six county leaders to receive a leadership award at the Florida Farm Bureau Federation convention in Kissimmee October 23 to 26. Two 22-Year-Olds Hurt in Mount Dora Single-Vehicle Crash
James D. Williams of Fruitland Park and James Strickland of Leesburg, both 22, sustained injuries Tuesday afternoon in a one-car wreck investigated by Mount Dora Police. The crash occurred around 1 25 p.m. on SR 46 at the east entrance ramp to US 441. Williams was later charged with driving while intoxicated and jailed in Lake County.
