Mount Dora hosts a community Halloween parade and singalong this Saturday. Children from elementary and middle school ages compete in a costume parade from 6:30 p.m. at city hall to the Chamber of Commerce. Prizes preview scariest, funniest and most original outfits. The Mount Dora High School Band performs, with an 8 p.m. singalong in the CofC Baggage Room. Refreshments served. Youth and Education Committee sponsors the event. Farm Bureau presidents honored at Florida convention
Lake County Farm Bureau President John Whitaker was among six county leaders to receive a leadership award at the Florida Farm Bureau Federation convention in Kissimmee October 23 to 26. He earned a certificate of achievement and a western style hat as his county ranked among the state's top six. Lake County also won first place in the 2,000 to 3,500 membership category for selling Farm Bureau food products totaling 23,229.52 dollars last year and met its membership quota while scoring highly on a performance survey.

Two 22-Year-Olds Hurt in Mount Dora Single-Vehicle Crash
James D. Williams of Fruitland Park and James Strickland of Leesburg, both 22, sustained injuries Tuesday afternoon in a one-car wreck investigated by Mount Dora Police. The crash occurred around 1 25 p.m. on SR 46 at the east entrance ramp to US 441. Williams was later charged with driving while intoxicated and jailed in Lake County.
