Voters decide on amending Section 5 of Article 8 to create five county commissioner districts per county. Each district elects one commissioner for four years, with initial term adjustments: 1938 even districts two years, odd districts four years, thereafter four-year terms. Powers and pay set by law.
The proposed amendment alters Article 5 to set seven justices on the Florida Supreme Court elected by state voters. It adds a governor appointment for one additional justice with a six year term, and outlines division rules, quorum, and the judiciary’s two division structure with Chief Justice leadership.
W R Bland, citrus grower of Lake Jem, is president of a new packing company serving Lake Jem growers and nearby Orange county. The pack will supply markets through American Fruit Growers Inc. Officers include C N Williams, R B Woolfolk, G D Wing, with G B Hurlburt managing the packing house.
