George J. White president of the First National Bank of Mount Dora is appointed to the Florida State Board of Control by Gov. Fuller Warren. He replaces Thomas W. Bryant and serves until June 1951. The board oversees the University of Florida Florida State University Florida Agricultural and Mechanical College and the School for the Deaf and Blind. White and fellow appointees include Frank M. Harris Eli H. Fink and N. B. Jordan all experienced in banking or law. White, 53, a Jacksonville native, has long civic ties and has served on the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta board.

The city council authorized placing the question on the ballot to approve a plan matching worker contributions to a retirement fund. Dora’s Case Heard Before Florida Utility Commission
