Fire Department reports September activity and events
Mount Dora Fire Department shows eight activities in September including residential utility and vehicle fires. The rescue unit assisted three times and two drills were held. Chief Carroll Griggs conducted inspections at Cumberland Farms First Baptist Church and Princess Mall. Assistant Chief Ken Cox attended a Fire Prevention Congress in Orlando. Hydrants painted citywide. St Patrick's Women’s Guild rummage sale set for Oct 22 23 at Golden Triangle Shopping Center. Jason Ward celebrated his fourth birthday with a party at McDonald's in Eustis and was named Poster Boy for a local telethon last February.

One-Car Crash Injures Two Near Eustis
Two people were treated and released from Waterman Memorial Hospital after a one car crash on U.S. 441 near District 45167. Richard Douglas Raymer of Winter Springs was driving east when he lost control and overturned in the median. Daniel Lee Cree of Orlando was a passenger. Mount Dora Police reported no charges.

Lake agency receives grant for rehabilitation program
Washington Lake Community Action Agency Inc. received a $50,000 grant for a one time program to rehabilitate 30 parolees and probationers. Fifth District Congressman Richard Kelly announced the grant from the Community Services Administrations to cover costs that began Oct. 1.
