Kiwanis Luncheon Promises Peppy Program in Mount Dora

Kiwanis members gathered for a luncheon headlined by Rev. M. J. Bouterse with songs and stunts while planning support for a Mount Dora school band. W J Johnson asked for more time to form the band and for club funding help. Dr. Miller Wells Alfred Rehbaum A Lee French and Dr. R W Dickson attended representing local groups. Prof L J Laney extolled athletics benefits for students and the town, urging football support. The club agreed to attend the first home game to cheer on the team.

Mount Dora To Welcome Winter Visitors Friday Evening

Mount Dora will extend an official greeting to winter visitors on Friday December 12 at 8 o'clock in the Community Building social rooms. Mr Purdy of the Tourist club organized a program following the reception featuring instrumental and vocal music a short play and an elaborate pageant depicting Florida's welcome. Impressive Rally Marks Sunday School Service

About forty members of the Community Sunday school attended the morning service from primary to senior classes. Children wore crepe paper hats and flags, with pilgrims and a Cross symbol on a flag led by Alpha Adams and Virginia Ingram. Peggy Champ and Robert Tuttle delivered key parts. Rev. D B Spencer spoke to older children on the value of Sunday school work.

Lake County Chamber of Commerce announces WRUF Gainesville invites five one hour broadcasts from November through March. The Frock and Frill Shop opened on Monday introducing a fall line of dresses and suits. New display uses violet and green theatrical gauze. Mount Dora High School presents an athletic association benefit show on October 17 at 8 p m in the Community Building. Tickets cost 25 and 50 cents. Senior class offers a one act comedy The Burglar with a named cast. Junior class stages The Ghost Story, a one act comedy, with listed roles. Sophomores perform a Mock Trial and younger grades provide stunts between acts.

Eight Conferences For Aviation Aid

Paul E. Grassfield, director of aviation for the Florida State Chamber of Commerce, announces eight district aviation conferences in Pensacola to Fort Myers during October. The aim is to complete the State Aviation Bureau by securing direct district representation and to discuss local aeronautical problems and promote aviation across Florida. Efforts will also form working groups in each county with aims to establish landing fields and proper town and highway markings.
