Fluoridation Ordinance Debated by Mount Dora City Hall

Mount Dora officials opened first reading on a fluoridation ordinance presented by Joseph Allen of the JayCees. About 500 residents signed a petition and a $500 down payment was offered for equipment, with $1,000 raised for fluoridation costs. The council discussed health benefits and costs, with two dissenters. The JC members reported Mount Dora's water contains 0.02 ppm fluoride, needing 1 ppm to be effective, prompting a plan for further readings October 18.
